As a SD Customer I'd like the Portal view to expand to the width of the window

    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Service Desk Server. Using JIRA Service Desk Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem Definition

When viewing issues in the Customer Portal view, the column with the comments use always the same amount of space (width) regardless of the width of the browser window.

In resolutions wider than 1680 this is less than 50% of the screen and makes it hard to read when pasting logs or other formats that are not just simple comments.

      Suggested Solution

Make the width wider if browser window is wider.

      No workaround

Using browser zoom it will make text occupy more screen space but because the size is bigger it will still make logs inside comments hard to read.

There is soooo much screen real-estate wasted here, leaving a very narrow band for a decent sized description making the formatting terrible.

Cant we simply change it to be 80% of the screen width or something configurable? But this as shown below is just making Atlassian look silly.

We have linked a Confluence space to our service desk and the narrow view makes many of our Confluence pages hard to read. Pages with tables are pretty much impossible to make use of. This design is too broken to allow it to be used by our customers and I wonder how it made it through testing.

Agreed.  Pasting screen shots on a known article is pointless.  And the images don't expand when clicked like the do in a comment thread.   Showing text tables with more than 3 columns of skinny data is no good either

.. this really has to be fixed soon, or give us a workaround - set some CSS style or something somewhere, don't be just silent

This really makes JSD look goofy. Designers at our company laugh at this. Anything, Atlassian?

            Hello Atlassian,

would you please do something about it. Have anyone of you even tried to access some article in the knowledge base in this way? If it has been designed for smart phones then you should think also about regular PC users and their FullHD monitors.

            Thank you!

this would be very helpful to unleash the full resolution of modern HD monitors

This was created many months ago and still sits open.  Is there anyone at Atlassian actually going to look into this or are we just wasting our time here?
