Mail channel comments on an existing issue in the wrong project if the subject contains an issuekey from a different project

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

      Issue Summary

Sending an email to abc@madeupinstance.atlassian.net (intended for project ABC) with the subject XYZ-123 results in the body of the email going to XYZ-123 as a comment instead of a new issue in ABC with the email's subject as the Summary and the email's body as the Description.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create an issue in one project
      2. Send an email to the mail channel for a different project containing the issue key of the issue created in the previous step

      Expected Results

An issue is created in the project that the mail channel belongs to with the Summary set to the email's Subject and the Description set to the email's body.

      Actual Results

The email's body is added as a comment to the existing issue in a different project (from the one associated with the mail channel).

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
