Problem Definition
As of now to enable JIRA to create comments and issues from email, you need to first configure JIRA to receive email from a POP or IMAP mail server. Currently SMTP/SMTPS connectivity options are not supported and thus only generic commercial options are made available for usage. For customers dealing with government organizations, secured connections are of top priority and the existing connections do not cater for the customers needs.
With the existing options given, the customer is required to open ports to allow connectivity from Jira Cloud to mail server despite having an already secured system configured.
Suggested Solution
The ability to have SMTP/SMTPS option for Jira Cloud to retrieve information for customers allows more custom-tailored experience and more control the secured connection that being allowed to the mail servers.
