      NOTE: This bug report is for JIRA Service Desk Cloud. Using JIRA Service Desk Server? See the corresponding bug report.

      Original Description:

      If you add a workflow validator on the create issue.
      Like to validate that a field concur with certain condition.
      (IE: Number field that contain at least that quantity of numbers)
      and if the client what fill the form doesn't concur with the condition, it will not show the error written in the validator, but will show a generic: Not able to create issue via this Service Desk

      It should show the proper error like if creating this issue in Jira.

      Thanks

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1. Install e.g. the JIRA Suite Utilities add-on;
      2. Edit the workflow being used by the Service Desk;
      3. Add the Date Expression Compare Validator to the Create Issue transition;
      4. Select the "Due Date" field;
        • Condition ">="
        • Compare with '5d'
        • include time part: No
      5. Try to create a request through the customer portal, but chose a Due Date < currentDate + 5d.

      Expected Behavior:

      The same error message that appears when creating the issue through the default create issue screen in JIRA should appear on the Customer Portal screen.

      Actual Behavior:

      This error is displayed

      Error!

      Not able to create issue via this Service Desk.

      Workaround:

      Use the Field help field in the Customer Portal to show a detailed description of what is being validated in each field.

            This problem is resolved in the JSD -2.3 and higher version. Now we get the proper validator error on Customer portal also, if some values in the form doesn't satisfy the criteria.

            cnguyen: What is the meaning of "OD" in version "2.4-OD-03"? We are using version 2.4.1 and see no change.

            Is this bug actually the solution to JSD-1638?

            EDIT: I figured out that "OD" stands for "OnDemand".

            When will Atlassian is planning to solve this issue? If provided it will really be a great feature. At present validators are working but the custom messages are not shown on the service desk portal. But when we create service desk project internally, The proper validator message is displayed.

            We have now more or less one year SD and this basic functionality is still missing?
            The whole concept of workflows with validators seems to be unknown to all SD developers...
            -> Leads to quite an unusable setup
            This issue should have been addressed long before, is open for 10 month!
