There are situations that Mail Handler can't create issues by Email for various reasons, i.e. the user does not have enough permission no longer, but since there are Email in the back log of mail server(For some days) and mail handler can't create issues we keep seeing errors in the logs.
2015-05-26 19:54:15,899 ERROR [incoming mail] QuartzScheduler_Worker-1 ServiceRunner comments comments[10100]: User 'username' does not have permission to comment on an issue in project '10501'. 2015-05-26 19:54:16,133 ERROR [incoming mail] QuartzScheduler_Worker-1 ServiceRunner comments comments[10100]: Could not find a corresponding issue to comment and 'Create a new issue from each email' is not selected. 2015-05-26 19:54:16,383 WARN [incoming mail] QuartzScheduler_Worker-1 ServiceRunner comments Jira Administratror does not have permission to comment on an issue in project: 10901 2015-05-26 19:54:16,383 ERROR [incoming mail] QuartzScheduler_Worker-1 ServiceRunner comments comments[10100]: User 'Jira Administratror' does not have permission to comment on an issue in project '10901'.
We can reduce the length of the logs and by eliminating unnecessary logs by setting a limit for number of errors for each mail failed message.
