Currently, when a custom email account connected to a service project experiences a connectivity issue, it does so "silently". The only way to know that there is an error is by checking the connectivity logs (View the email processing and connectivity logs) for the connected email account.
Please notify admins when a connected custom mail account encounters connectivity errors so that the admins are alerted and can fix it.
There is currently no known workaround for this.
