NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Service Desk Cloud.
Problem Definition
When raising a request on JSM portal that has hidden fields with default values the default value is written to the Jira field, not the value from the form. If the form is set to be left open on submit then the form answer gets updated to the default. If it is left to submit on create then the form retains the original answer as per usual submit functionality.
Steps to reproduce
If you
- Hide fields on your request form configuration on JSM portal
- Associate a form to the request type and link to the fields that were hidden
- Raise a request with the form
Suggested Solution
The ideal solution would be that the form field value always wins over default hidden values.
Workaround
Stop hiding the field on the request form. With the release of forms as a native implementation in JSM it now automatically hides duplicate linked fields on the portal request create screen so it is no longer necessary to explicitly hide the field to interact with forms.
