Ability to soft delete Assets components/configuration and recover those within a fixed time(like recycle bin)

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Problem Definition

Currently we do not have a way to recover Assets components(object schema, object type, objects, object attributes) and configuration(import config, etc) once those are deleted.

      Suggested Solution

Provide the ability to undo deletes and recover removed Assets components and configuration. This will work like a "Recycle Bin/Trash Can" feature which would allow customers a possibility through UI to restore the deleted objects within a certain number of days.

      Why This Is Important

      • Preventive measure to accidental deletion
      • Recovery of deleted data within a time
      • The feature request JSDCLOUD-10030: Ability to backup Assets data is similar but more of a remedial approach and not preventive.

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behaviour. A workaround will be added here when available

[JSDCLOUD-11328] Ability to soft delete Assets components/configuration and recover those within a fixed time(like recycle bin)

Happy New Year, everyone! May it be filled with joy, success, and - who knows - maybe even some miracles. Like Atlassian resolving to fix this bug. We can dream, right?

The big issue here is that Atlassian want to be like Apple but doing it badly. Lets build the most basic system and get 3rd parties to build an app that makes us more money without doing any work.

If you do not use Asset Management on Jira now, do not do it, Excel would be better.  Justin King, may I suggest you speak to some of your customers and get idea what they want.

Look like I will be moving my ITSM to Hornbill.

Merry Christmas to everyone and I wish us all that Atlassian has many New Year's resolutions - e.g. to solve this issue!

This is a major problem.  An accidental deletion of an object has ruined 1,000's of links.  Atlassian's response is basically, yeah, you're screwed.  Sorry about that.  Moving to cloud might be one of our biggest mistakes with Atlassian as of late.  Recovery is a fairly straight forward fix if one has access to the data.  Atlassian please do better.

The delete schema button finally moved! What a relief. Can't count the number of times we've had issues with an accidental deletion of a schema instead of one object.

This shall be a standard feature. Feel like im back in 80th where backup and recovery was an unknown phrase.

This is a joke right! ? How much am I paying for this rubbish?

Basically the system doesn't have an archive feature. So you add an Asset and that either stays there forever even after being destroyed etc  You need to create an archive filter so you don't search for assets

I think i will have a chat with TOPdesk they have this built in and not an after thought.

            Atlassian need to do better!

I went to delete a single object instance.   I am use to the "are you sure you want to delete message" and clicked though it.  But I think it said something about delete all objects. Why is that an option?  Delete 1 object is no big deal, delete multiple by selecting each of multiple no big deal,   deleting all with 1 click, is a problem.  there was know way to simply undo the last command, or restore to yesterdays snapshot.

Fortunately I had a daily backup in SQL.    As a software developer I can take responsibility for my own services.  I can push the data back in.

But this is a cloud platform that I can't control, I still lose all the asset attachments to my Jiratickets.  Totally unacceptable.
