It would simplify backup procedure when front-end runs on different computer than the database. All neccessary data would be saved in one location, so backup of the database would be enough to have all JIRA data secured.

[JRASERVER-806] Ability to save attachments into the database

I too would like to see this reopened.

I d support this option. there are other, very good reasons, why db storage of attachments is a good feature. I am unimpressed with Atlassian response ot this issue (which is essentially closing them by claimign is a duplciate of an already closed issue) - while pop up mention that "it is solve in cloud instance and resolved in server version" this appears to be not true.

            Re Bartek comment on JRA-35457

... Please continue to provide your feedback in JRA-806 thread.

Please re-open so I can vote for this. I have no further comment to add as to why I want this other than it's a no brainer for simple and reliable DB driven backup and recovery. I can't think of a viable alternative which allows us to provide proper point-in-time recovery of our Jira instances due to this omission.

How do you know how many people want this when voting has been disabled by closing it?

            Confluence has this
Option but it makes your backups grow very large quite quickly

            Please reconsider adding this feature.

I agree as well. Any update on this situation?

I concur. This is very important for organisations that attach files directly to Jira.

We have still not been given a clear understanding of why this is not to be implemented which is why this ticket was raise, also subsequently closed, again without explanation: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-35457

Jira should provide the ability to store the attachments in the database.

            • Avoid limitations when using file storage systems
            • Allow for better backup strategies to be used

Confluence has this feature and it seems inconsistent not to have make this available in Jira.

This feature would be invaluable in upgrades and JIRA relocation.

Please reopen this issue to allow votes to accumulate on it. I suspect that there are lot of people out there who would vote for this.
