      Atlassian Update – 17 June 2020

      Hi everyone,

Thank you for your interest in this issue.

While this issue has gathered significant interest, we're unable to implement it. Since version 8.0.0, Jira follows a Unicode standard annex UAX#29 with regards to word boundaries. As per the standard, the underscore character (_) is not considered as a word boundary, which results in the behaviour described by this issue.

Because splitting words with underscores would mean creating our own standard, we don't plan to work on this for the foreseeable future. Instead, we encourage you to use characters other than the underscore, e.g. a dash (-) or space, as a workaround.

We hope that you appreciate our candid and transparent communication.

      Kind regards,
      Daniel Rauf
      Jira Developer

    Description

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Create a filter with name FFV_R5 for a project in the issue search and save the filter.
      2. Go to Manage Filters->Search.
      3. Search for "FFV" or "R5"
      4. Create an agile board from JQL filter by typing the filter name. Search for the filter.

      Expected results

Filter "FFV_R5" would be returned in the results

      Actual results

The search does return result when the full term of "ffv_r5" or "FFV_R5" is input.

      Workaround

Use a character different than the underscore as a delimiter, e.g. space or a dash (-).
