Description
Summary
When browsing JIRA in IE 11, the browser memory increases and after some time IE does not response.
Environment
Internet Explorer 11.0.38, 11.0.40, 11.0.46, 11.0.96.
Steps to Reproduce
- Access JIRA using IE 11
- Turn on F12 development tools, switch to Memory tab, and Start profiling
- Navigate to different JIRA pages (e.g. browse multiple projects/dashboards one by one)
- Notice an increase in memory usage for every page change
Expected Behavior
IE 11 garbage collection should kick in and free up memory periodically.

IE 11 continues to consume system memory until it eventually crashes:

- This issue is very similar to
CONF-38182. - IE 11 and Edge are known to have memory leaks as described in this bug report.
