High memory consumption in Firefox after page refresh

Summary

High memory usage in Firefox after page refresh. Problem is specifically bad for JIRA reindex page is it refreshes pages very frequently.

Environment

• JIRA
• Firefox 62 - OSX 10.11.5
• Firefox 62 - Windows 10

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to JIRA re-index page, or view an issue.
2. Wait until process finished.
3. Check memory usage

• Memory_profiling

Expected Results

Memory usage is low.

Actual Results

Memory usage is high. It grows from 50MB to 300MB in my case. In a worth case it can be 2+GB.

Notes

• Problem is not reproduceable in Chrome
• Problem happens with other JIRA pages in Firefox
• May be related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1141242

Workaround

This workaround seems to vary, as the below fix might work or not depending on your machine or OS!

• Refreshing the Current page by Pressing F5 or the Reload button
• Clearing the Browser Cookies
• Clearing the DNS Cache
• Use a Different Browser
• Switch to the new Issue view
• Use other browser
