Summary

When rich text editor is enabled, custom field would not work properly

Environment

• JIRA 7.2.4
• JIRA 7.3.0

Steps to Reproduce

1. Enable Rich Text Editor
2. Create a custom field. (In my test I am using multi text field)
3. Add the custom field in a separate tab in issue screen
4. Make sure wiki style renderer is selected for the custom field.
5. Create and issue
6. Try to edit the created issue and for the custom field while in visual mode select some wiki style markup function.
7. Try to switch between text and visual

Expected Results

You will be able to switch the editor between text and visual for the custom field

Actual Results

Once we switch from visual to text, we cannot switch back to visual and it hang there until we click update

Note

• The behavior only happen if the custom field is added in a separate tab in an issue screen.
• At such, the Footer of the field would not show any option as well.

Workaround

Edit the custom field via view issue page using inline edit.
