      Summary

      JIRA Cloud import fails when duplicate email address are found in the XML file: failed to import user remotely

      Environment

      • JIRA Cloud 1000.695.1

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Log into instance
      2. JIRA Import Wizard: https://<example>.atlassian.net/secure/admin/StudioImportSelect!start.jspa
      3. Select file > Import > File imports and begins processing
      4. During after 2nd reindex, during the User import > Import fails with the error message "Failed to import user remotely"

      Expected Results

      The import is successful and all users are created.

      Actual Results

      Import fails as soon as duplicate email is detected. JIRA instance down

      Following error is displayed in JIRA Logs:

      Cannot access the JIRA instance after the failed import

      Workaround

      Remove all duplicate email address, generate a new backup, and use this new backup to perform the import.
