    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

We need to restrict certain members of certain groups from showing up in @mentions.

      Some use cases can include:

      • Need to restrict @mentions to only members of the project (developers should not show up in non-software projects, customers should not show up in non-service desk projects they're a member of)
      • Need to prevent certain groups from showing up in @mentions at all (contractors, customers/clients)

The big one that has come up is, service desk agents are able to @mention customers on internal projects and receive update notifications. The customer clicks on the issue but cannot vew it because they do not have JIRA application access.

      Thanks!

[JRASERVER-62463] Restrict members from showing up in @mentions

@Gavin McMillan: They so also show up in custom user picker fields. For us, this is problematic. And because of the huge number of customers in JSD, they flood the @mention suggestion list, making it effectively useless.

@Atlassian:So we also need a feature to make JSD customers invisible in @mention suggestion lists and custom user picker fields within JIRA Software. Ideally only for certain groups of JIRA Software users.

Actually may be additional context as I can see that @mentions for JSD customers do not show up in a software project, however when you got to the 'share' menu they do show up.

This is very important, while the customer cannot log in and view the cases they do get visibility of the case subject.

Suggest an option in the project of what groups will show up in @mentions and can exclude that group by project.
