    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

Users have been requesting email digests as the traffic is too intense... I played with notification schemes etc..., but still: somebody might want to know everything that occurred, but only in one shot!

I put this feature request as major, because it has been a vehement request from users, which does render JIRA less appealing than it might be.

            [JRASERVER-4185] digest email

Your short term workaround is not perfectly what a digest option would give.

If we set up a mailing list then the developers will not get enough attention for a particular event. Possible solution would be to set up a mailing list for every user/group but this is a pain. Probably there is some open source solution for this requirement.

I think a well custimizable digest (on user preferences level, group level or project level ?) would be nice.

Probably a partial workaround is to create a filter and subscribe for it.

            Thanks for raising the issue.

In the short term, you might want to consider setting up a mailing list outside JIRA, subscribing users to this list, and sending JIRA notifications to the list instead of directly to users. Most mailing-list systems have a digest option. You could also then set up IMAP access to the folder (we did this at Atlassian, and found it very beneficial).
