@Mention failed if the user mail visibility is set to Hidden

After setting the "User mail Visibility" to Hidden in the "General Configuration", the autocomplete does not render any user when using the @Mention functionality in comment. Only the first letter is shown in the auto-complete dropdown with the message "no matching users found".

As a workaround solution in JIRA 5, you can set the user email visible for all or visible for login users.

This is a bug we would still like to fix. However, we are currently working through higher priority issues in other areas, so this is not scheduled to be fixed in any stable release soon.

We are using our Jira as a service desk too, and we really don't want our customers to see the email addresses of our developers.

Can you please fix this asap?

We have the same issue and have temporarily solved it by using Show to logged in users only on the User Email Visibility setting under:

            • System
              • General Configuration
                • User Email Visibility

Please make this work without the work around. It would be valuable to us and other customers that do not wish to make their emails public.

For the workaround works to make mentions work. However we do not want to publish our intern email addresses as well. We hope this issue gets resolved soon.

The workaround does not work for us since the whole purpose is to hide our internal email addresses from our external testers.
