      • The list is very long, its hard to find the columns you are after (it took me a while just to find the issue key column), perhaps you could add a few key ones at the top of the list as well (e.g Key and Name).
      • There is no horizontal ordering available, it only does it alphabetically, so there is no way to achieve "the default plus one extra column". This could be helped by just ensuring that if they select the issue key, it will get put on the leftmost column no matter what.
      • Gadget width was an interesting hurdle. I added a bunch of columns and they just got hidden off the side in such a way that i didn't even realise that there was more to see. Maybe a scroll bar or something to provide a visual indication that there is more data off to the side.
      • Is there somewhere where you can change your personal gadget defaults - set columns, horizontal ordering and sorting?? Something like this would be cool, it would mean I didn't have to pick all the columns every time I created a gadget (and would overcome most of my previous points).

[JRASERVER-18349] Selecting your own columns for the gadgets needs improvements

I cannot determine if column width adjustment is a part of this. Similar to the Question and Suggestion below, I would like that ability to change column width for JIRA dashboard gadgets.

I'd love the ability to set the min width %, set white space to normal on gadget filter result table header, and potentially adjust the padding. One minor suggestiion is to let the column header text wrap. See snapshot to see how the user experience for consuming content could be significantly improved.

I agree with Brett Ryan's comments completely. I believe the gadget should drive the ordering, not the underlying filter's order. The reason he provides is sound and, I believe, would be a very common occurrence.

I know related issues (JIRA-19083, JIRA-18995) suggest using a check box to simply use the filters order, however I think this is just a workaround and feel it would be better to allow the gadget to control the column order.

Imposing the filters order on the gadget will not allow different end users to use the same filter with their own personalised column order. As an example a developer watching the same filter as an end user would almost indefinitely have differences in the columns/order.

Whatever solution is used for this issue it should also be applied to other gadgets of a similar nature, such as "Voted Issues" and "Issues in Progress" for example.
