            [JRACLOUD-86430] Jira Board Horizontal Scrolling

this is total rubbish for this crap feature to be forced on ALL of us when we dont need

If you need a board with 30 columns maybe different boards are required.

Please allow us to have a choice not a rubbish feature to be forced on us all.

            Hello all,

Thank you for watching, voting, and commenting on this issue.

We understand the current status of this Suggestion maybe unclear as updates have been split across 2 tickets. To avoid further confusion we will be closing this ticket and consolidating all feedback and updates under JSWCLOUD-12539.

To summarise where we are at, earlier in September 2021 we released an implementation of this Suggestion to a cohort of users as an experiment. After overwhelming feedback on this ticket and through other channels we decided to roll back this implementation. While the feature alleviated pain for some customers, it unfortunately did not meet customer expectations.

We will be exploring different solutions and will keep you updated. Please head over to JSWCLOUD-12539 for the most recent update and news about trialing the earlier implementation.

            Kind regards,

            Andrew

Agreed... we need to be able to horizontally scroll to be useable

For users who have a few columns and want them on one screen, horizontal scrolling is inconvenient

For users who have many columns, horizontal scrolling is a must have

If you must choose, err on the side of accommodating the most users (enable the horizontal scroll)

            Ideally to accommodate everybody, either:

            a) allow horizontal scroll to be turned on/off, or

            b) set a global fixed column width so people can 'fit' to their screen without scrolling, or

            c) do both

            Hello!

We need this issue to continue using the tool.

The visualization of the project was impracticable due to the number of columns we have.

            Regards,

            Good morning guys,

Any forecast to deliver this issue? I'm about to change tools because a board in Jira with 18 columns is unfeasible.

I've lost track of whats being done (or has been done) about this issue but I thought the obvious solution would be to introduce the scrolling feature thats already on the Next Gen projects to the classic projects? Is that not the plan?

Hi All, Thanks for your feedback. We were hoping to alleviate pain for users whose boards were unreadable by adding a scroll bar, however, we empathize with users with whom this is not the ideal experience. Tough to keep everyone happy  For the now, given overwhelming feedback on this thread and other channels, we are rolling back for the experiment cohort. We will be exploring different solves and will come back on this soon. Thanks for your patience and feedback again.

Agreeing with a lot of the more recent comments, that this feature needs to be a user preference. Having a single look at the full sprint is a necessity for my teams - having to scroll diminishes the value of using Jira in this fashion.

Related note: Has anyone heard (or seen) any sort of acknowledgement regarding the request to have this be a user preference?

Not user-friendly feature: now it takes more time to overview the whole board.
