I am immediately closing this ticket as Won't Fix as discussed here in keeping with the Dashboard & Gadgets team's internal processes.
I think we need to keep track of how much friction the current behaviour causes. I will only include tickets from 07/01/2024 onwards as the behaviour of private filters recently changed.
There are a number of duplicate tickets (see Related links on this ticket) that may have obscured the amount of support contact this behaviour generates.
