NOTE: I was forced to pick a component. I saw nothing for "notifications" so did my best.
I'm using Jira Cloud for the first time after having used on-prem for a long time. Lots of fantastic new features, including in-app notifications.
The problem is, the notifications are not helping me. Check out the attached screenshot.
Note that all you see, in bold, over and over, is Matheux Knight updated an issue 10 times. Not at all helpful. Instead, let's use the history entry that matched that notification and bold that!
For example in the first item, if I open the notification, click on history, I see this in the history:
Mattheux Knight updated the Labels 1 hour ago
dependency refine -> dependency
That should be the notification, not the generic one we are showing in the screenshot.
Example:
current: matthew knight updated an issue 2 hrs ago, Shephard MVP Portfolio PfM training for Jira Align
proposal: Labels were updated, dependency refine -> dependency, for Shephard MVP Portfolio PfM training for Jira Align by Matthew Knight 2 hrs ago
Having a list of that in the notifications would allow me to speed through communications.
When I click the notification, it just opens the issue. No idea what changed. I have to click on the history and read that to understand the notification. Problem here is that if anyone else made a change after the notification that will be the top notification, so again printing the history entry would be the most helpful.
We should also be able to customize what we want in-app notifications for:
- labels yes/no
- state changes yes/no
- description changes yes/no
etc.
That would also power up notifications.
