Problem
When creating an issue and attaching a file in the Description field, the text typed afterward gets lost, together with the attached file, when the issue is created.
It only happens when attaching the file while on the creation screen. If you edit the issue after it is already created, you can attach the file and insert a text after it without losing any of them.
I was reproduced for TXT and binary files, but not for images.
Steps to Reproduce
- Click on Create button to create an issue
- Select any software project (company or team-managed)
- Type any text on the description field and break a line
- On this new line, attach a TXT file by either
- Clicking on Files & Images attachment button and selecting file
- Or pasting it directly (Ctrl+V, Cmd+V)
- On the line below the attachment, type any text
Expected Results
The text before and after the file, as well as the file, are present in the Description field after the issue creation, just like they were inserted in the creation screen.
Actual Results
Only the text before the file is retained in the Description field after the issue is created. Both the file and the text afterward are gone.
Workaround
This workaround does not prevent the file from being lost, but at least retains the text afterwards.
Type the text you want before the file, break 2 lines, type the text you want after the file, go back to the blank line above and insert the file. The Description field will hold all the texts but will lose the TXT attachment.
Notes
It was not reproducible with image files but was reproduced with TXT and binary files.
It doesn't seem to be related to the size of the attachment file.
Possibly related to JRACLOUD-76247 - When viewing attachment of type "text", the first three lines get hidden behind the preview header
Somewhat related to JRACLOUD-72446 - Pasting the Formatted text to description/ rich text box field while creating an issue, does not retain the formatting
