    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, a user without the global Browse users and groups permission can see and assign tickets to the users with the assignable user permission on each project.

But this behavior is restricted to the assignee field, it would be helpful to have the same behavior for other user picker fields.

This will allow users to select other users in user picker fields without seeing all the users from the instance.

I believe this issue is a duplicate of ID-8128 – Limit User Picker to members of certain groups/roles in System Fields in Jira Software and Jira Work Management and JRACLOUD-40963 – User picker (multi user) user filtering feature which have more votes.

I recommend that watchers of this issue vote on and watch the above issue. So that votes aren't split, I believe this ticket should be closed, but I will wait a week before taking any action in case anyone disagrees. Thank you!

We have various customers as guest contributors on our Jira Cloud instance. Quite often they ask why they can't use the Mention feature. The global approach would work of course, but we want to avoid that different customers can see the personal data of others. Our customers always give positive feedback about working with Jira. If this possibility would be implemented, it would certainly be a good advertisement for the Jira platform.
