There are times when Jira administrators have to find that which groups are associated with which project permission and roles, to review the access level and remove unwanted group's access.

Currently, the only way to achieve this is to manually visit each permission scheme and the People section of each project and collect the details.

A report/view having the said details will be quite helpful.

[JRACLOUD-77635] Report containing Group association with roles and projects

Hi everyone, we've also wanted a way to find usages of a group throughout Jira. As Utkarsh mentions, it's especially important to, for example, find all the permission scheme objects that a group could be associated to.

We created a Jira Cloud app that helps you find usages of groups in your Jira cloud instance. The app searches for group usage across many objects in Jira, but for this use case - in particular - you can use the app to view group usage in permission schemes, issue security schemes, and project roles.

The app is called Lens Group Debugger for Jira, and you can find it here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/1236381

Try the app out, and let us know what you think. Thanks!

We have different roles like developer, Business Analyst, Tester & PM in our organization. I want to export the groups that each role belongs in Jira Cloud.

Also, can we able to generate the reports based on the groups and user accounts on Confluence or Jira cloud.

For admins, this is a need. Are there groups that were not used anywhere? The usage of groups can be polluted or naming convention was not applied correctly. A lot of things to manage, tooling for this would be great.

There are so many places where a group can be used. Paired with the inability where groups can not be renamed the only option to give a group a new name is to create a new one, move users over and delete the old one - and that's exactly the spot where it would be useful to know where a group has been utilized.

I would say 'quite helpful' is an understatement - this feature is absolutely essential for administrators to keep track of groups and access.
