Unable to choose assignee of issue using email address

       h3. Summary

      When assigning an issue the entry box does not recognise the assignee's email address. Sometimes, one person may have the same display name with different Atlassian accounts. So, it makes sense to have the ability to choose based on email addresses.

      Workaround

      As a workaround for this issue, there’s the possibility to use the v2 of the endpoint rest/api/2/user/assignable/search (e.g.: rest/api/2/user/assignable/search?project=ProjectID&query=email), which should return the values according to the user profile visibility settings (or by entering the complete email address).
