Description
NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.
Problem Definition
As covered in:
as of the 26 APR 2016 update:
Links to other JIRA issues (in the description or comments) are now rendered with an icon and status, rather than as just a plain hyperlink.
Current behavior is either All Wiki Style render enabled or disabled, and it would be nice as an administrator to be able to configure the renderer to use either the old format (Just the hyperlinked issue number) or the new format (with an icon and status). If you type a correctly formatted issue key into any text field in JIRA, whether it uses wiki markup or not, it will present as a link to that issue. In wiki markup it will display as a jira issue macro with the summary and issue key, in default it just shows a hyperlink displayed as the issue number
Suggested Solution
Add configuration option for field render behavior for issue number mapping
Workaround
Using Wiki Renderer Text Formatting Notation to generate your own text based hyperlink as detailed here:
