      There are a handful of issues around adding wildcard support for various field types in JQL. This is an umbrella issue for all of those field types, and for field types not previously covered.

          Form Name

            [JRACLOUD-27687] All text field types should support wildcard searching in JQL.

            I arrived here c/o one of the linked feature requests (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-63231).

            It is disappointing to hear something as basic as a wildcard search is not natively available and can only be accomplished via a paid add-on.

            Yikes, I guess don't hold you breath for this common sense feature.

            Even better (in my opinion) wound be to support regexp for searches. (both text fields, but also for other type of fields).

            Something like

            fixVersion = r/Release V\d+/

            to match "Release V1", "Release V12", "Year 2023 Release V4", but not "Hotfix V12.0.1"

            Hi everyone,
            While Standard JQL doesn't easily allow searching for exact words, special phrases and patterns you may consider using our professional indexing service:

            After you install the app you can start using the wildcard search on any text field:
            issue in wildcardMatch("My text field", "text")

            Check out the documentation for more information.
            I hope this helps!
