High memory consumption in Firefox after page refresh

Summary

High memory usage in Firefox after page refresh. Problem is specifically bad for JIRA reindex page is it refreshes pages very frequently.

Environment

• JIRA
• Firefox 47.0.1 at OSX 10.11.5

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to JIRA re-index page.
2. Wait until process finished.
3. Check memory usage

• Memory_profiling

Expected Results

Memory usage is low.

Actual Results

Memory usage is high. It grows from 50MB to 150MB in my case. In a worth case it can be 1GB.

• Problem is not reproduceable in Chrome
• Problem happens with other JIRA pages in Firefox
• Problem happens with other non-JIRA pages (less likely) in Firefox
• May be related to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1141242

Workaround

• Close tab and restart the Firefox
• Use other browser
