The fix for this bug will be released to our Long Term Support release.

The fix for this bug has been approved for backport and will be available in an upcoming 7.19 release of Confluence. Check the fix-version field for details.

It would be great if Confluence can support OAuth authentication for IMAP as described on this https://developers.google.com/gmail/xoauth2_protocol

Office 365 is planning to discontinue support for basic auth on services like POP and IMAP on during 2021. As of today, basic auth (username and password) via IMAP/POP is the only way to make Jira able to use an Office 365 mailbox for receiving email. More details about the upcoming changes to Microsoft's products can be found in https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/office/blogs/end-of-support-for-basic-authentication-access-to-exchange-online-apis-for-office-365-customers/

            Atlassian Update – 30 March 2023

            Hello Everyone,

I'm one of the Confluence Data Center Product Managers and wanted to share an update regarding the backport of support for OAuth 2.0 to the 7.13 LTS.

We've been investigating what's required and have decided that at this stage we will not proceed with this due to the amount of risk involved.

Backporting OAuth 2.0 to 7.13 would require a large number of additional upgrades and other related changes, compared to the 7.19 LTS.

These changes would amount to a level of risk that we are not comfortable with given the high standards of quality and stability that underpin our LTS releases.

To access OAuth 2.0 support, we recommend upgrading to the later LTS version, 7.19.

            Kind regards,

            Jacqueline Bietz

This is marked as Closed: Fixed for versions including 7.19.5 and up.

In the Release Notes for 7.19.5, this shows as being included, but I'm not seeing how/where to make these conversions.

Has anyone else had any success they're able to share?

Is there any documentation or guidance on how to utilize this on this updated version or 7.19.5?

This is clearly a joke. Major software, with ongoing SLA just missing the fact, that one of the major providers will stop working.

            Dear customers,
My name is Mauricio and i’m part of the Confluence Data Center Product Management team.
I would like to provide an update on this ticket.
With Microsoft’s End of Life support for basic authentication on December 31, 2022 the following plugins in your Confluence instance will stop working if you are using Microsoft Exchange Online:

            • Mail archiving
            • Confluence email to page
            • Confluence reply to email
            • Confluence email gateway

We apologize for any stress or disruption this may have caused, and would like to communicate a series of resolutions that will help you:
For an immediate fix for Mail Archiving, we have a plugin update to support OAuth 2.0 for Confluence versions 7.17 and above available through support requests via https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-server/
Also, we are working to release further resolutions around the following time frames: * Mid-January 2023:  updates to the affected plugins with added support for OAuth 2.0 will be available via the Marketplace

            • End of January 2023:  bugfix release enabling OAuth 2.0 configuration
            • Early to mid-February 2023: the 8.1 feature release will provide OAuth 2.0 support

For those of you that must remain on an LTS, this bugfix will be backported to Confluence 7.19.
Thank you for your trust and continued partnership.

            It's a month past the Microsoft's deadline.
Customers using it to send Confluence notifications can't use their EXO mail solutions, to send them. It's still on "Gathering Interest", and it should be Closed/Fixed. Is this a joke? Jira has this feature already, for the past two years.

There is a deadline given by Microsoft to deprecate basic password AUTH from Oct 1, 2022. This should be now IN PROGRESS in place of GATHERING INTEREST.
