      Problem:

Outgoing mail (SMTP) does not provide the option to authenticate via the oauth2.0 profile from the system admin UI.

      Suggested Solution

Provide support for OAuth 2.0 Outgoing mail (SMTP)

      Workaround

      None

      Information

Ref: Microsoft - Deprecation of Basic authentication in Exchange Online

In September 2021, we announced that effective October 1, 2022, we will begin disabling Basic authentication for Outlook, EWS, RPS, POP, IMAP, and EAS protocols in Exchange Online. SMTP Auth will also be disabled if it is not being used

            Hi Atlassian Team,

            Any update on this issue?

Please share the date, when this option will be available for Confluence.

            Thanks

            time is running. ⏲

As of September 2025 this will not be possible anymore because Microsoft is going to fully deprecate Basic Authentication (SMTP AUTH)!

            OAuth 2.0 for the win!

            We need also this feature.

Our company is also wanting this feature.

We are using it on Jira, and would be very good to have on Confluence too

Any update/progress on implementing OAuth2 for SMTP in Confluence since it is already implemented and working in JIRA?

We are in a very similar boat for our work needs - how has this feature been added for Jira but not for Confluence as well? Not exactly a work stoppage for us, but this is quite a downer. Are there any updates to this to show users/customers a timeline for integration?

You have deprecated Basic Auth but given us no way to configure OAuth2 for the Outgoing STMP Mail server in Confluence. Jira has had this for quite some time. I don't understand why you added OAuth2 capabilities to Confluence without this important feature?

As an administrator we are making some changes. I would really like this issue to be completed. Jira already has this option enabled and confluence should so too. We are going to increase security measures where basic authentication will be disabled, therefore we need this option as soon as possible. Hopefully this will be taken upon action. Thanks in regards.
