Page Properties Report sorting on column with Status Macro's is incorrect

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a page with a Page Properties Report
      2. Enable sorting for the Page Properties Report on a column which contains Status Macro's
        • Fe.: R | G | O | Y
      3. Enable "Reverse Sort"
        (See screenshot-actual.png)

      Actual Result
The pages are sorted (propably on color instead of content) like this:

      1. Y
      2. O
      3. O
      4. O
      5. R
      6. R
      7. G
      8. G

      Expected Result
I expect the pages to be sorted on the status in the following order:

      1. Y
      2. R
      3. R
      4. O
      5. O
      6. O
      7. G
      8. G

      Note(s)
When I manually sort the table (by clicking the column header twice) I get the expected result. (See screenshot-expected.png)
I've included a space export so it's easier to reproduce.

This was "In Progress" and now "Short Term Backlog"? Why?

It seems that in general the sorting does not really work as expected if the column to be sorted contains macros. CONFSERVER-32353 has been reported for this earlier, but was closed due to "more important issues".

I can confirm that sorting does not work at all for columns using the "user profile macro" (https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf73/user-profile-macro-991928241.html) in Confluence version 7.3.5. But a click on the column heading on the rendered page does sort correctly. So obviously the page properties report macro has its own sorting logic which is just not correct.

Please fix this. This is causing quite severe usability issues for some of our workflows.

sorting doesn't work at all! i created a new property just for sorting and confluence doesn't even manage to sort by number...

Will there be any traction on this issue soon? The default sort not working properly is very annoying

I'd like to have default sort by status column as well, but it is not working. Only manual sort.

I have discovered a way to get the table to sort properly, but it's VERY non intuitive.

The default name for the first column is "Title", and changing the "Title Column Heading" option appears to only be cosmetic. If you want to sort by the first column, regardless of the display name, you still need to enter "Title" in the "Sort by" field.

Same issue here using a mixture of numbers and texts with the standard order, not using the reverse:

            1 - Option_A

            2 - Option_B

            3 - Option_C

Luckily only '1 - Option_A' gets relegated to the end of the list, the rest seems to be fine, but it is still annoying.

Can confirm the same issue for us in confluence cloud.

Can confirm the same. Manually clicking the sort link on the column header sorts as expected, but not on page load even if Sort By includes the column header exactly

I can confirm this issue affects version 5.9.7 as well.
A workaround used to be wrapping the Page Properties Report with a Table Plus macro (Bob Swift plugin) and doing the sorting within that macro, however, with the latest upgrade and the "generating page properties report..." message when a page loads, the Table Plus workaround no longer works. (Works when previewing the page, but when actually viewing it, it does not.)
