Searching quite a time for the possibility to promote global templates like blueprints i landed on this page. Dear developers, please consider this to be done as soon as you can.

Unfortunately there is no way to promote a global template currently (custom or built in). The ability to do so is something I'm hoping comes from this ticket (given the specific ticket about it was closed as a duplicate of this one).

I am unable to see the promote template option for my space to promote my global templates? Can someone please help assist?

bump — seems like something that would be an easy win and very useful

Promoting global templates would be really usefull, please consider this functionality as the workaround (copy and promote the specific template in every space) is not scalable or manageable

A Must-Have in my eyes to promote any global templates (custom ones as well as default templates) . Otherways the work with space templates will get too intense on a large amount of spaces!

Develop a way to promote global templates in all the spaces at once to display at the beginning of the templates list by default.

Would be useful to have to make live easier.

Maintaining and creating "global" templates using the work around is becoming an increasingly large drain on time.  Having to copy a new global template into every space that needs and then editing templates that are supposed to be identical various spaces is a drag : (

Please, raise the value of this feature. It's a "must" that will touch a great number of your clients

same here.. we're desperately pushing towards better-managed content. The fact that users can create pages without using a template & that these cannot be searched easily, compared pages created using a template (template sets a default label).

Actually, our ideal solution would be to disable 'blank page' creation altogether & to be able to search for "pages by template".
Currently we're just trying to workaround this limitation by defining templates with default labels & subsequent searches with "labeltext:" clause

not sure which of the listed functionality would give value to most.

• search clause "template:X" (by name & pages without template)

I agree that this (and promotion of custom Global Templates) would be very useful.  We are experiencing "pain" trying to get global templates used in all spaces as they are hidden away when the space has some space specific templates promoted.

It would be great to have some news about this. This is definitely something that would help us manage user content better.

Any news here? I am having a company wide standard template that is hidden behind the "show more" link and thus is unused mostly.

It is very difficult to build a usable infrastructure for my users when I can't hide irrelevant templates without also hiding blank page and blog post. I have to choose between a giant mess of global templates and a curated list missing its two most important members.

Are there any news on this ticket? Being able to edit the template for the blank/empty page or removing it from the list is super useful.

I agree that promotion should be available for global templates when creating a new space. Alternatively, using a user template that pulls in the global template's content might work. Currently we have to set up the templates on each space to get the usability needed and that is not user friendly and gives a large overhead on template maintenance...

Just created some global templates and am really baffled at the poor user experience provided. I can create a new Global template, but it is hidden from our users? Who on earth designs these features?

I strongly agree with Garrick Bodine - My organization is still relatively small (we have around 15 users), but we have a number of global templates that apply across the board to nearly every Confluence space we use, and I desperately need the ability to bring these custom templates to the top of the list so my users are reminded to put them to use when appropriate. Aside from the hassle of copying these templates to each space where they are needed (more than half a dozen at this time), what's really ridiculous about that solution is having to go edit multiple copies of the same template when a change is needed based on an ever-evolving company-wide workflow, user feedback, or just additions/removals of template elements.

The inability to promote global templates does make creating templates far, far less usable and useful. In addition to crippling site-wide updates to templates, it's a training issue for us. Now not only do you have to train people on how to use the templates (which is not too bad usually), you have to train them to find the right ones amongst all the non-relevant ones (which is worse because you've raised the entry bar to the process altogether). This is a case where Confluence is clearly not scaling well, even in our smallish environment.

I've just run into this problem as well, it basically makes promotion on a space-by-space basis completely useless. In my case it is the fact that 'Blank Page' gets relegated to the 'more' list as soon as any blueprint is promoted within the space that causes the problem

Completely agree with this.
Either allow:

• global templates to be promoted on a space by space basis The promotion should also be a "bulk option" to cater for users that have multiple spaces.
  OR
• allow a copy, choosing the spaces from the existing spaces, with an an option to promote. The promotion should also be a "bulk option" to cater for users that have multiple spaces. That way the template could be maintained as a global template and pushed out easily to the relevant spaces.

Not having this feature is a horrible usability gaff for acceptance of confluence by both by users and admins.

I suggest a rename of this ticket, and add the 'blank' page as one specific scenario.
"As a Space Admin, for a specific space, I want to select specific global templates to promote"

This rename incorporates the original requirements, but opens room for more scenarios to justify the feature request.

Can my scenario be added, as extra justification..

We have well over 200 spaces, one per product our agency has produced.

We have a global template (e.g. project checklist).
When I promote a space specific template, it hides the global template.
The workaround is to 'copy' the global template as a site template, and then promote it.
The problem with this workaround are:

• causes user confusion as the template appears duplicated
• updates to the global template are not brought to the copy
