I hope to see title change history as the screen snap below.

Otherwise, it is too hard to notice the change of the concerning page, – even a page compare view does not show the title diff.

Adding a title would be useful for identifying major changes. My team keeps creating new pages for meeting minutes, if the title was visible with the versioning then instead of having multiple pages in a tree that are just "Meeting Minutes for DD/MM/YYYY" there would be one page called "Meeting Minutes", that could then have the 'version history' off to the side for the occasions when you need to go back and check X date for meeting minutes, but it would be only 1 file in the tree keeping things cleaner.

Moving pages, changing page titles, and changing permissions on a page are all insignificant changes that don't need to be audited.

Atlassian knows what's best for everybody.

Content governance is one of those "nice-to-have" features, but not really necessary in the real world. I don't understand why everybody thinks that something like "Page History" would show these types of events.

If anything, all of the related tickets could be closed by just changing the title of the menu option from "Page History" to "Page Body Text History".

Hello, I've recently had a case where a coworker accidentally edited a page (most probably pressed the 'e' key) and edited the title. I spent some time figuring out what changes did he do because the title isn't highlighted as a change - it just shows the new title.

The use case here is when you have to do problem determination.

Let's say I have a page called apple, and a page called banana. I could rename banana to orange, name apple to banana and name orange to apple. So when someone reports that the page about apples is talking about bananas and the page about bananas is talking about apples I'll be able to figure out the answer.

I'm currently a new administrator for an existing instance that is 8 years old and never had the content properly managed. I'm doing a lot of digging to figure out why things are where they are. Tracking page moves CONFSERVER-5231 - is higher priority for me, but this information would also be useful if it had been there.

It's shocking this hasn't been fixed in 5 years!

Watchers of the page receive an email that seems to show no changes to the title (but it erroneously shows the formatting as having been changed on the headings, a separate bug in my view).

This issue is really needed for Approved documents, such as used with Comala Workflows for easier FDA compliance.

The problem Andreas van Rienen explains is present in Confluence 5.2.5 as well.

What's worse, even if I mention that I changed the page title in the What did you change? box, the change comment is not saved unless I change content in the page body as well!

So I can't even log changes to page titles manually!

I agree with Andreas van Rienen. The title changes should be clearly marked in the change comparison.
Is there a separate improvement request for showing the title change only in the change comparison?
Then this issue should link to that issue, and will get my vote, too.

Since title changes are currently not properly recorded in the page's change history, some page comparisons show no difference at all; whereas in fact the title was changed. This is potentially confusing and IMHO not an expected behaviour (see attached screenshot "Versions compared.jpg"). Plus it means that changes to a page's title are not easily "revertable", since no visual indication of a title-rename is given when comparing different versions.

From my understanding, a document or a wiki page consists of a title and the body. Presumably I am not the only one expecting the change history to display a complete set of changes of my document. This complete set of changes is currently not properly reflected in the change history.

This behaviour contrasts with the nice and visually appealing change comparisons that Confluence provides for all other changes to a page's content.
