The resolution for this task is that it is fixed. This does not follow as I still receive incorrect export to PDF of unicode characters. It appears that all unsupported characters are converted to hashes (#) during the export.

To do this, you need to install and register a Unicode font in Confluence. Instructions are available here:

Thanks for looking at this PDF export issue for non-ascii characters (e.g. Japanese). Any plans of fixing it? Let us know

"Ms Arial unicode" font can support all most "character". but as we know, most of multiplybytes language fonts not include bold, italic fonts. but because FOP 0.20 .5 can't emule "bold" and "italic" for these fonts,so we can not make pdf exported worked with "bold" and "italic".

btw: adobe pdf maker or adboe pdf "printer" can emule "bold" and "italic" for multiplybytes language fonts.

            Question from Ben:
            >> If you have any font files you can send us or point us to (to download or buy) for use in Japanese PDF generation that would be a big help.

            Response from Neeraj:
The latest default Japanese fonts for Win and Mac are as below:

            (a) Windows: MS P Gothic
            (b) Mac: Hiragino Kakugo (or Osaka, previously).

I guess you can buy them on the internet. Hope this helps.
