The performance difficulties of Atlassian Cloud are particularly present again today. 

It is surprising that since this concern was raised in 2019, no significant progress has been made to seek changes or improve performance. Despite repeated feedback and complaints from users, the issue does not seem to be receiving the necessary priority. There is an urgent need for Atlassian to take action here and take concrete measures to optimize cloud performance to ensure customer satisfaction and productivity.

We started an evaluation of Confluence Cloud recently, because of good experiences in the past. I'm really disillusioned by the performance of the page rendering for both, simple view and edit.

Made with page speed insights in Chrome 117:

we have a page that has 13 tables in them, most under 50 rows. One table has about 160 rows, another table has about 100 rows. They are fine when loading in Read only mode, but when you go to edit the page, it takes anywhere between 45seconds - 1min and 30 seconds to fully load everything before you can start typing... it just feels very sluggish and lethargic! This has been tested on Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers (recently updated) and also on different internet connections as well as different computers. Other pages using the same browsers, internet connections and computers on the same confluence instance load into edit mode fine without the same sluggish and lethargy as that page. Very odd!

Would love this to be addressed asap!

They've said things like 2s response time to a request is ok so i dont think they see this kind of performance as a bug. Sad since Confluence is good but just unusable. Doubt the performance will improve in next few years

don't use any of those type of extensions - I'm not sure why this is a suggestion and not a bug.  If something is so slow that end user is unable to perform the work as they need, how is it a suggestion?

Did you disable an external browser extensions (Ie: Grammarly) or something else?

Yes, absolutely, right there with you evarshavsky - this is just something that helped my team (I am not part of Atlassian, just another customer - just wanted to make that clear).

I have proposed this to my team - and disabling spell check will have a major impact on the content as they depend on this feature - it's not optional for them - disabling the translation on the browser does not create enough of a performance optimization.   This is a major issue that needs to be addressed.

Hi all, just wanted to share a workaround that has helped us reduce loading times of pages with large tables: Try deactivating the spell checker in the browser you are working with - this has helped us a lot.

Ethan, our developers are having hard time updating some larger wiki pages which have lots of tables and other content.  This has become more prevalent in the last month.  We don't want to break these pages up if we don't have too - that a lot of work as these are our service solution arch pages - one per service.

I'm having the same issue as Joel Hjalmarsson here. Please solve it. In this way it's not possible to use Confluence.

I am also having problems with Confluence being extremely slow to edit. It has gotten to the point where I must type my text in some other editor and copy/paste it into Confluence. Editing directly in Confluence for pages that contain multiple tables, diagrams etc. is completely broken for me. I must wait several seconds for every key stroke. I am on Windows and using Edge as my browser.

This seems to be getting worse, not better.

We have pages with attachments that are now regularly just not loading and giving a complete timeout and killing any page display after 30-seconds load time.

Confluence is supposed to be a "Content Management" platform, it is kind of failing at this just now.

How do I contribute to an INTEREST GATHERING?  Our team is also super interested in seeing this in motion. We are using Confluence to share documentation publicly, and our partners complain about the speed. same here - Confluence cloud is VERY slow. 

We get a Google Page Speed insight of 23 or lower on our Confluence page https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdocs.expertflow.com%2Fchat%2Flatest . 16 secs for largest contentful paint, 16 secs to be interactive... We have about one page request every two minutes, so the volume is very low. With a normal CMS we can configure a CDN, configure cache etc, here we have no clue.

CPU Usage is continuously below 5%, Bandwidth below 100 kbps, we have 8GB Memory, 160 GB Disk. 

Time to Interactive is 5.5 seconds, for us in best case scenario. It can't compete with our old on premise confluence.

As already mentioned in a previous ticket open to you, here (at Tyk.io) we are using your Atlassian tool suite for JIRA/Confluence, and from my previous experience with your same tools on-premise, there is a huge difference in terms of performance.

Loading a page sometimes takes 20 sec. I'm not the only one in experiencing this, but it's an over whole experience made by my colleagues too, on different OS/Browser or even over different regions (EMEA/US/APAC).

I already provided a .HAR file as example.

Our workflow is affected, and we are in the middle of reconsidering using Confluence to keep documenting our work.

we are also experiencing general slowness in confluence. Regardless of page visited it takes from 10s to 20s until the page is loaded and can be interacted with. The page i tested is this one: https://learnchamp.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LEARNCHAMP/overview?mode=global

Also the Google Lighthouse Score is really bad...
