    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Status Update: March 2022

My name is Hilary and I'm a Product Manager on the Confluence team where I focus on the Confluence admin experience. Thank you for the feedback and continued discussions on this ticket, we hear you loud and clear and understand that this has been a long requested feature in our product and something that we would love to bring to market.

I am happy to announce that we are adding automation to Confluence, which could be used to bulk manage page versions across your spaces or entire site. While removing old page versions won't be included in our MVP release of automation, it's something we will certainly consider adding to the roadmap going forward. The Confluence automation Early Access Program will open up next month (April 2022) - if you're interested in automating the management of page versions, please give us feedback there!

Thanks again for the feedback, and if you'd like to follow up directly you're welcome to send me an email hdubin@atlassian.com

      Customers want the ability to:

      • Remove old versions of pages older than specific date (e.g. get rid of anything older than 6 months)
      • Limit or Increase the number of old versions kept (e.g. limit to 5 previous versions)

      In order to:

      • Reduce the database usage of Confluence, particularly on frequently- or automatically-updated pages
      • Comply with legislative document destruction requirements (e.g. delete content older than some years).

These tasks could be done manually via space admin, or triggered by an automatic housekeeping task.

[CONFCLOUD-27701] Ability to administer number of page versions for a given space or page

Has there been any updates on this? Confluence automation has been out of EAP for a while now and I haven't seen anything about deleting page versions. When will this be available?

I understand that storage space is theoretically "unlimited" but some vital features, such as backups, fail for larger instances. The ability to automatically delete old page versions would help us reduce the size of our instance and hopefully allow us to use backups.

We are also interested in this request to be implemented.

Always the same BS. Buy a paid add on to have a functionality that should be included in the tool from the beginning.

            Hi Jan-Peter

            Thanks for your answer.

I don't mean comments when you write them in the text or under the text I mean the comments you can make when you save a page. Those comments are shown in page history next to the version.

            Hi Nadine,

this will not work as comments are not bound to a page version. Any comment will appear in subsequent versions of a page. Doesn't matter if its a inline or page comment.

If this story will released one day would it be possible to delete all versions which have no comment?

This is our rule for the company. if there is no comment with the version, this version can be delete.

It would also be great, if we could select the versions with check boxes, select those we want to delete and confirm it with pressing a button.

I have no idea why this isn't even there yet.

            Pranjal and Tibor,

Did you see my comment on the 21st June last year about our paid add-on ScriptRunner for Confluence that will let you do exactly what you are seeking.

The example in the comment shows how to take control of pages in a space (HR) and keep just 3 revisions and remove all revisions older than 90 days. This can be done automatically or as a one off script.

            I hope that helps.

hey, we also need this feature. we have pages with 800+ revisions and it's nightmare to delete them, even they changed name during history. we need to have ability to delete all version history for page and for all pages in space at one click

            Any update on this @Atlassian.

Has anybody written any macro for the same?

It will be good to just add "Select all" button in Page History so you'll be able to uncheck few last versions and delete all others.

It's curious how it's expected for customer to delete hundreds or thousands versions for hundreds or thousands unique pages?

            This is must have option.
