Updating Atlassian Home for Jira Cloud app results in an error

    • Severity 3 - Minor

      Update

Atlassian Home for Jira Cloud is part of the system apps, and all updates are automatically scheduled within 24 hours and expected to be completed soon after without user intervention. We're looking at improving the messaging presented to administrators alongside the error message presented on clicking the update button. The initial issue with the 429 error caused by this bug has now been fixed.

      Issue Summary

Atlassian Home for Jira Cloud app is showing as 'Update available' in Jira's Manage App section. When users click 'Update', there's an error "The app "com.atlassian.atlas.jira" could not be installed as a local app as it has previously been installed from Atlassian Marketplace"

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Navigate to Jira
      2. Select Apps > 'Manage your apps'
      3. Under the User-installed apps, find Atlassian Home for Jira Cloud
      4. Click on the Update button

      Expected Results

      1. The app updates successfully

      Actual Results

There's an error "The app "com.atlassian.atlas.jira" could not be installed as a local app as it has previously been installed from Atlassian Marketplace"

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior, but the Atlassian Home for Jira Cloud integration still works as per usual.

We had a fix deployed that resolved majority of the issues but we are moving this to Gathering Impact to see if this issue continues to affect more users.

Usually system apps will be automatically updated within 24 hours so this error message is expected behaviour, but if 24 hours have passed and the update still hasn't occurred then please open a ticket with us. We plan to improve the error messaging so this is clear.

            Thank you for your patience!
