Summary
Currently when you connect to a data source as an admin you will see all spaces/projects despite their permissions levels:
Also, site level permissions do not apply when viewing/selecting data in Atlassian Analytics as long as that site is set as data source and you have granted permission to query the data via Analytics (see Data source permissions)
Some companies might be more strict with their data access and fear data leak.
Suggestion
Provide the ability to make it so data is available based on site/Jira project/Confluence space level permissions by default.
Also provide the ability to hide Jira Projects and Confluence spaces from the select screen when connecting a data source based on their permissions. Ideally they shouldn't be displayed as options at all if you don't have direct access to them.
Workaround
Currently you can restrict the data displayed by selecting Limited data when setting the scope of data: Select your scope of data.
Additionally you can control who can query data from specific data sources: Data source permissions.
