      2. Perform a Quick Search for that exact term
*perform a wildcard search as in attached screenshot (eg. '_underscore*' )

      Expected Results

The suggestions should include the Issue matching that term

      Actual Results

      No suggestions get displayed

      Workaround

After entering the search term hit enter, if there is a match it will be displayed in the search results.

[AI-1098] Searching for text containing underscore (_) in Quick Search does not return any suggestion

We have ported a fix for this, and now text entered with _ (underscore) in Quick Search should yield the correct suggestions.

We are monitoring the fix to see how the performance of the API is affected by this.

            Hi Anusha

I looked again at the search and found the following:

            1. In the Advanced Search
              • Searched for partial text that is in several issue Summary fields
                • Partial phrase with FULL words returns a list of found issues.  (Example: summary ~ "reverse engineer")
                • Partial phrase with PARTIAL word, does NOT return ANY issues.    (Example: summary ~ "reverse eng")

            2. Quick Search box (top of page)
              • I tried again, but this time in the 'quick search' box (top of page) typing a portion of the summary text. At first, it came up with blank results.
              • Then I tried typing in the 'quick search' again several times and it finally ended up displaying a couple of hits only. Very strange.
              • Then, I tried again in the Quick Search box (just as above) but then pressed ENTER. This launched the "Advanced Search" window. Then the full list was found in the resulting advanced “Search” window with the fuzzy text search. (See "Advanced Search" above.)

I tried this in Firefox and Chrome and got the exact same results. I also had this verified by a coworker.

            Thanks,

            Mark

P.S. I have screenshots but I'm unable to attach them.

Hi 75f3e0bc41b1 I'm struggling to reproduce the behaviour you've described. I believe the initial post on this bug report describes the absence of suggestions when typing in Quick Search. What you've described sounds like you are not getting the expected search results at all.

When I search for a string in the Summary field, after hitting "enter" or clicking "Search", issues that contain that string in the Summary field are correctly returned, regardless of whether they also include an underscore:

Please let me know if you would like me to create Support ticket to discuss this further.

I'm having issues with this, mainly in the Chrome browser.  I've tried Firefox and it seems to work.  I have not performed exhaustive testing with the browsers though.

Come on Atlassian. Really? "Gathering Interest"?! (again!)

So, you're telling us (your loyal, paying customers) that when we search for something in a VALID text field with VALID text (like the Summary field) that in YOUR PRODUCT we should NOT expect to FIND the information in a search?  And you need to "gather interest" on this?!

O.M.G. Please fix your bugs! Just fix them. No "gathering interest". Just FIX them. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. Pretty Please. Please and thankyou.

            Greetings!

In Jira there is ever present Search Bar which is great for fast search through system. Unfortunately the search logic really gets us.

            Our Scenario

We searched for certain Issues that belong to a specific delivery (named PO_ISICZ_03056). However Search Bar isn´t capable to find any Issues with the specified string.
