    • System Git version 2.17.0/LibGitSharp 0.24.0 + git-lfs v2.4.0

    • Severity 2 - Major

The new MSI installation always uses system Git installation and no longer provides an embedded Git installation, but it still asks to download embedded git-lfs everytime a repository containing lfs tracked files is opened. Sourcetree never should ask to download embedded git-lfs if System Git is used and LFS is available there.

System Git is 2.17.0 with bundled git-lfs 2.4.0

Apologies for not replying sooner, this should be fixed now. There are still some issues with notifications about the availability of Git-LFS, but Sourcetree will not override a reecent enough local copy of Git-LFS

@Michael: Was this fixed with 2.6.1?:

SRCTREE-2777 Unbundle Git-LFS from Sourcetree and rely it being bundled with Git for Windows

For us it is important that the system Git LFS is used and not a version shipped with Sourcetree, as we might depend on features in a specific version. We automatically deploy development environments, and as long as Sourcetree is not able to use Git and Git LFS available on the system we are not able to use it.

            Hi

It shouldn't actually be downloading, its actually just copying from the installation folders to the %localappdata%\Atlassian\Sourcetree folder. This is a bit of a shortcut to get the MSI up and running. We are reviewing whether to continue bundling lfs as a separate executable as it is now bundled with git for windows.
