Sorry guys, but I just updated from 1.5.x to 1.6.3 without knowing what I was in for, and this should not have been released. Period. While the new ui looks somewhat slicker, the usability went down and features used daily, even hourly, are now gone or burried deeper. (I'm just posting all issues I found in one single issue now as I don't have time to search for them or to create different issues - will search for duplicates later)
- commit dialog is now and integrated into File Status tab. I could live with that, were it not that when you're in the Log/History tab and then commit, the view doesn't go back to the Log/History tab after committing. Meaning you are forced to click it again. I practically Live in the Log/History tab so this is a mess - see
SRCTREEWIN-2048 - commit dialog used to have a checkbox Ammend Last Commit which is now under a seperate combobox. I'd guess one of the reasons it wasn't earlier is because you typically use it often to quickly change just the message of the last commit. I get that this was some sort of unification, but if the Push changes immediately checkbox can stay, why not the Ammend one? Or at least provide a preference setting for it?
- same remark for the options for viewing whitespace diff and number of context lines shown.. Making a UI slicker by stuffing away options behind menus pretty much means forcing more clicking upon the user, more clicking = reduced usability. At least allow customisation of the UI then instead of forcing everybody what some design team decided looks best, as is the case for most major Windows software packages.
- sometimes the diff view stays completely empty when only whitespace differences are found - see
SRCTREEWIN-2150 - the width nor height of many, if not all, layout panes is not remembered across sessions, which is terrible - see SRCTREEWIN-2151
- in Log/History view, when switching between a commit and Uncommitted changes by clicking in the history, the layout changes
- checkbox for Staged files in Log/History tab is always on. Hence it shouldn't be a checkbox, or it should be make clear what it does. Vice-versa for the Unstaged files one.
- putting the Open in Explorer button when there's nothing to cimmit seems like a nice idea, but the button disappears completely when there is something to commit. That makes no sense. - see
SRCTREEWIN-1971 - after clikcing on a changed line in the commit view, the button changes form Reverse hunk to Reverse lines but there doesn't seem a way to get back?
- after discarding all changed hunks, the Uncommited changes line stays present in the log view until another commit is clicked
