Issue Summary
Customers would like the ability to hide or disable the in-product “Ask Rovo” floating button without turning off all Rovo/AI features for the app.
Today:
- There is no per‑user setting to turn off only the floating Ask Rovo icon.
- There is no site‑level or admin UI option to remove just this button while keeping other Rovo/AI capabilities enabled.
This is particularly impactful for customers who find the floating entry point visually intrusive, distracting to their users, or conflicting with their internal UX/brand guidelines, but who still want to use Rovo Agents/Chat and other AI features.
Steps to Reproduce
- Log in to a Jira/Confluence Cloud site where Rovo is enabled at the organization level.
- Open a page/issue/board where the Ask Rovo floating button appears.
- As an end user, look for a profile or personal settings option to hide or dismiss just this button.
- As a site/org admin, go to admin.atlassian.com → [organization] → Rovo → Rovo access and look for a setting to disable only the Ask Rovo button (while keeping Rovo/AI features enabled for that product).
Expected Results
- There is a per‑user control (for example, a toggle in personal settings or “Don’t show this again” option) allowing individual users to permanently hide the Ask Rovo floating button for themselves.
- There is an admin‑level control (per site/app) that allows admins to:
-
- Disable only the Ask Rovo floating entry point, while keeping other Rovo/AI features enabled for that product, or
-
- Choose between granular visibility options (e.g. “Show for everyone”, “Show for licensed Rovo users only”, “Hide for this site/app”).
This would allow:
- Users who find the icon distracting to turn it off for themselves.
- Admins to align Rovo UI entry points with their organization’s UX, compliance, or change‑management requirements without having to fully disable Rovo.
Actual Results
- No per‑user setting exists to hide or dismiss the Ask Rovo floating button.
- No per‑site/admin setting exists to remove just the Ask Rovo button while leaving Rovo/AI features enabled.
- The only supported way to remove the button is to block Rovo for that app at the organization level, which disables all current and upcoming AI features for that app.
From the public docs:
- Manage Rovo access (Standard/Premium):
[Manage Rovo access | Atlassian Support|https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-rovo-access/]
- Manage Rovo access for Enterprise:
[Manage Rovo access for Enterprise | Atlassian Support|https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-rovo-access-for-enterprise/]
“Blocking an app will disable all current and upcoming AI features for that app. Rovo AI features like Agents and Chat will also be disabled.”
This means customers cannot target just the Ask Rovo entry point; they must turn off Rovo entirely for that app, which is often too coarse‑grained.
Workaround
Currently there is no granular workaround to hide only the Ask Rovo floating button while keeping other Rovo/AI features enabled.
The only supported workaround is to:
- Block Rovo for the affected app(s) at the organization level, following:
-
- [Manage Rovo access | Atlassian Support|https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-rovo-access/]
-
- [Manage Rovo access for Enterprise | Atlassian Support|https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/manage-rovo-access-for-enterprise/]
However, this disables all Rovo/AI features for that app, which is not acceptable for customers who only want to remove the floating button.
A more targeted per‑user and/or admin‑level control is requested.
