Summary / Description
As an Organization Administrator, I want the ability to set a tenant-wide default mode for the Rovo Chat interface (such as defaulting to "Quick Answers" instead of the current "Auto (Let Rovo Decide)").
Currently, when users open Rovo Chat, it defaults to Auto, which dynamically switches to more complex models depending on the prompt. While this offers a premium user experience, many standard users do not realize they are triggering high-credit-usage actions from the main chat.
Why this is important (Business Impact)
- Credit & Cost Control: Organization admins need guardrails to manage and optimize AI credit consumption. Forcing a default of "Quick Answers" ensures that heavy or deep reasoning models are only invoked intentionally, preventing accidental credit drain from casual queries.
- User Awareness: Most users are unaware of the cost differences between "Quick Answers", "Auto", "Think Deeper", or "Deep Research". Admin-configurable defaults protect organization resources while leaving the option open for users to manually change modes if they explicitly need a deeper dive.
- Granular Administration: Relying on individual users to manually switch away from "Auto" every time they interact with the chat is unsustainable at an enterprise scale.
Suggested Solution
Introduce a toggle or dropdown menu under Atlassian Administration > Rovo Settings that allows Org Admins to dictate the default state of the chat window for all users:
• [ ] Auto (Let Rovo Decide) - Default
• [x] Quick Answers
• [ ] Think Deeper
