Rovo: To make Confluence page editing a better user experience while using Rovo

While using regular Rovo Chat to make edits to the Confluence page while in published/view mode:

• Rovo mentions that the draft preview is ready in editor. However, the preview does not render even in the editor UI.
• Also if user clicks the Confirm button, the changes from Rovo are reflected only after the page is refreshed. And after page refresh, the Chat window is gone so user needs to again open the Chat window and find the previous chat history which is not a great experience for the user.

Support reproduced the issue as below:

1. Use a published Confluence page (in view mode) that has an Agenda section. I tested with something like below:

Meetings covered:
-xyz (May 10 Monday) - organizer xyz
-xyz (aug 10 Monday) - organizer xyz

      2. Then, from the same Confluence page, open regular Rovo chat window via the ‘Ask Rovo’ button. Note the chat window already has the confluence page as Context.

      3. In the above Rovo chat, enter the prompt as follows

• • For the Agenda section of this page, edit and reformat it as a table with dates and details 

      4. Rovo gives response similar to below:

I have updated the Agenda section to format the meetings into a structured table with Date and Details columns. 

The draft preview is now available in your editor.

       5. Note Rovo says above that “The draft preview is now available in your editor.”. 

       6. Click Edit button on the page and notice the latest change preview still does not show up on the confluence page editor

       7. Now click Close on the Confluence page editor to come out of the editor view and go to the published page view

       8. Then click Confirm on the Rovo chat window while in published/view page mode

       9. Rovo returns the message “Page updated successfully”

      10. Notice the Confluence page in the published view is not automatically updated with the latest change without refresh

     11. Refresh the page

     12. After the refresh of the browser, the page is updated with the latest change from Rovo

     13. Notice at this time, after the refresh, the Rovo chat side window is gone so user need to reopen the Rovo chat side window and find the previous chat history

Note: on Step 8 above, if user clicks Confirm while in Confluence editor mode, the change is updated instantly in the editor mode

Suggested Solution- PM review may be needed

This current behavior shown above is not a good user experience and from user point of view it is unintuitive experience:

• where Rovo says there is preview in editor mode but there is no preview even in editor mode.
  • Expected Behavior: The preview should display once the user clicks Edit and is in the editor UI page.
• And the after hitting Confirm button while on the published mode, the user needs to refresh the page to see the update. And after page refresh, the Chat window is gone so user needs to again open the Chat window and find the previous chat history which is not a great experience for the user.
  • Expected Behavior: After clicking Confirm, the Confluence page in the published view should automatically update with the latest change without needing a refresh and without losing the Rovo chat window on the side
