Continuous notifications on iOS similar to "Allow Insistent Notifications" on Android

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      User Problem

As a user, I would like sound notifications to continually ring until an alert is seen.
Android phones have this option but iPhones do not.  iPhone will only rings twice and stop. Having alert notifications continue to ring will allow users to hear the alert when sleeping.

It should be noted that 'insistent notifications' is a feature of the Android OS itself and iOS doesn't have its own option for this yet.

      Suggested Solutions

Possibly add an option in user settings or Opsgenie mobile settings to turn on or off continuous notifications until the alert is seen. This would be different from the 'repeat' option in notification rules.

      Current Workarounds

For now, users can use 'repeat' in the user notification rules, but this maxes out at 10 times with 1 minute being the shortest repeat time.

Understand that is a limitation of the OS, rather than the app itself. But would be amazingly helpful for the users in our team that have iOS. (I'm android, so I'm sorted) workaround is to have a long custom notification to emulate the phone ringing. Not ideal, but it works.

a29d30aaa062 The whole idea is the option to have this happen, not the requirement. Everyone here is asking for the option to get continuous alerts, not the requirement, because it's already available on Android (just not on iOS) and some of us work on-call in the wee hours where we need the ability to turn this on as an option.

You not having the time to turn notifications off is either lazy, or entitled. Everyone has the time to do something if it's important enough to them; obviously this isn't important enough to you. This option is important enough to me to request that I can make it an option because my clients need me to respond at 3AM in the morning if their equipment goes down. If you have issues, turn your notifications off, and don't go against a feature simply because you don't have the time to disable an option or turn notifications off, thus not getting the majority of people that need OpsGenie for on-call support a feature they need.

I’m guessing you constantly check your phone to see what notifications you’ve got. Doesn’t that drive you crazy? If I were you, I would have figured that out a long time ago. Honestly, I’m increasingly considering setting up something like a password or screen time limits, which I recently read about in an article https://setapp.com/how-to/check-screen-time-on-iphone. I spend way too much time on my phone. Sometimes I get a notification and instead of just picking up my phone to check, I end up getting sucked into social media, forgetting everything else.

I’m not entirely sure what specific notifications you’re referring to, but I definitely wouldn’t want them to repeat endlessly on my iPhone. I already have a bunch of notifications that I don’t even need. I just don’t have the time to turn them all off.

Atlassian force us to switch from Opsgenie to Jira, but this is still not available after 2 years.
Same to the fact that we can't have a different song per type of notifications (for when on-call start, when alert is created etc).

This needs to be resolved ASAP to be honest.

It has been over two years that this highly useful and important feature (already on Android, but not on iOS) has been suggested.  What is Atlassian doing to work on this, and what progress is there to bring this to feature parity with Android?

Would be nice to have this feature, actually almost the only reason to not use the app, because if alert happens at night it will be extremely hard to wake up only to one sound

This is preventing my IOS users from acknowledging alerts.

Really need this feature for iOS

This feature is needed for any person who is using an iphone for their work phone, otherwise I won't be properly notified of an alert if I was asleep.
