Option in CCMA to migrate Spaces only without any user data

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

When migrating via CCMA all or some user data will always get migrated depending on the configuration of the migration plan. It would be helpful if users had the option to migrate ONLY content without any user data.

This is beneficial for customers who want to preserve content, but no longer need user mapping. Another use case is when users have been purged on the server and there is no longer a need to recreate the users or set up temp accounts as this will add invalid users to Atlassian Cloud.

      Actual Results

      1. When configuring Choose what to migrate, there are only 2 options:
        • all users and groups
        • only users related to the space

      Expected Results

      1. When configuring Choose what to migrate, there would be 3 options:
        • all users and groups
        • only users related to the space
        • no users

[MIG-664] Option in CCMA to migrate Spaces only without any user data

This is mind boggling, that features like that are still missing.

This feature would also be very helpful when test-migrating spaces with third-party macros that have a low migration success.

We are also using this (opportunity) migration to clean our confluence and only migrate spaces on by one without users to be in full control.

If you guys have a workaround for this, please let us know.

This feature is desperately needed. When I migrated a couple relatively small Confluence spaces it carried with it >1000 users, most of whom left the company years ago, even though I selected "users related to selected spaces". Due to the age of the Active Directory groups associated with those spaces those inactive (in AD) users came with. We need to be able to move spaces and Jira projects without including ANY users. We can manually manage user access on the cloud side.

aea49a022e62 If the case is that you already have users in cloud, and want to move only spaces, you can select the spaces and then select ‘migrate users related to the selected spaces’ and it will only additionally migrate the associated users to these spaces which have not been previously migrated.

We did this. And there were also around 500 users migrated we don't want in Cloud. It seems happened due to the space was not restricted. So it would be a good feature to have opportunity to choose to not move users during migration.

Thanks for reaching out. While implementing this may take time and it would be difficult to comment on a timeline at the moment, maybe we can help by providing a workaround to your situation to unblock you?

Hi Team! Is it difficult to implement? In our Confluence migration project we don't need to move any user. We want to move only Spaces one by one, because we already have users in Cloud.
