It would be good if available epics were able to be chosen when selecting the Epic Link criteria in JIRA's Basic Search.

            +1

Noticed this functionality was just added recently for sprints, but not epics (which did receive a sorting update & two dimensional filter support).

Is this in the works and just not implemented yet?

Is this related to the fact that I don't seem to be able to use Epic Link as a sorting / counting criteria in dashboard gadgets eg. 2D Filter Statistics? Thanks, Tom

            UPDATE: Thanks for resolving this!

Ahh, okay. Well that makes sense then. Thanks for the update.

I've changed this Bug to a Story. The functionality you are expecting was never implemented. The reason you are seeing the Epic Link as a criteria option at all is due to a bug in JIRA.

I started with a new instance (JIRA 5.2.5 GH 6.1.2)

            1. Created a new board and added 3 epics (epic1, epic2, epic3)
            2. Went to issue navigator
            3. Clicked on new filter
            4. Added "Epic Link" criteria, and clicked on the drop down (shows blank)

cshim can you please provide a screenshot with what happens? Is it just that once you select Epic Link, you get no option for choosing links or specifying input? Or is there an error message displayed, similar to the one shown on this bug - GHS-7255?

This is related to a bug raised against the Sprint field with the new Search in JIRA.
