Many enterprise organisations are being mandated by their security teams to decommission on-premises LDAP/Active Directory connections and move to Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) as their sole identity provider. This creates a critical gap in Jira Data Center, which currently has no native mechanism to pull users and groups from Entra ID / Microsoft Graph API for use in authorization

What is missing is a native user directory connector that can connect to Microsoft Entra ID via the Microsoft Graph API to pull users and groups into Jira DC for authorization purposes, equivalent to what the existing LDAP connector does today, but using modern cloud-based APIs instead of LDAP.
