    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Portfolio Server. Using JIRA Portfolio Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

When creating a plan some historical data is needed for management. Currently can only view open sprints/stories. Pulling in all closed sprints and related stories helps is planning specially when trying to guide both development & management teams.

Edit: Seeing completed issues is now possible using the Scope Filters in Portfolio.
However, the Sprint value is not kept for the issue if the sprint is completed

I am unable to see past sprint velocity at all!  The default report only goes back last seven sprints (and I need to see averages for last quarter) and JIRA Portfolio doesn't seem to show past sprints in the capacity report.

How would one get metrics like "average velocity of date range" or even just a list of all sprints estimated versus complete over a date range.

Having visibility into completed projects plays a significant role in planning for future projects.  Thus, visibility into the past projects is important.  Additionally, however, it is important to see them along the timeline, such that we see when they were worked on.  Currently each time Portfolio makes an update to the plan, the timeline adjusts such that the current date of the update is the most historical data is kept.  I really think this should be a feature that is customizable. I know plenty of project teams and companies that want to see the big picture of past projects.

As great as Portfolio is, one fundamental flaw is the inability to see the past projects in the same way we see current and future projects.

Please keep the value of the "Sprint" column even after the Sprint has been completed!

The value currently gets blank after the sprint is completed, and that doesn't let us generate reports for past sprints - because the Sprint column in Portfolio gets empty after the sprint is completed.

No, i don't believe you can show completed Stories in Portfolio at this time, a previous response to someone's query on this was:

"JIRA Portfolio never displays historical stories in the schedule once backlog items are marked as complete. The graphical schedule is forward looking only, the backlog table is the only place that you can see those historical stories.

We've got a feature request open that's similar to the request you're asking for, the ID is JPO-386. Please do vote on it, and if you can comment with your use case that will help our PMs when implementing the changes."

Can't you just use a custom date selection for "Completed Since" filter along with show "Open and Completed" items?

This would be a very useful enhancement, I have to produce a report every other week for my management team on current portfolio plans and they want to see what has changed since the last report. I also have to produce reports to show what we worked in in the last month, last year, etc and a historic view of the plans would be extremely useful and save me a lot of time.

The ONLY history I can see is the historical Velocity - but we'd love to see all the past sprints.

And because we're users of the SAFe framework we plan in 10 week Program Increments (i.e. across 5 sprints), so it would be great to see all sprints across the PI - i.e. including the closed sprints.

This would also be very useful for the reporting e.g. reporting on historical % of Themes, not just on predicted future %'s
