    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Software Server. Using JIRA Software Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Currently, Kanban and Scrum boards have the feature to right click an issue and select the 'Add flag and comment' and 'Remove flag and add comment' functions that flags the issue as impediment and automatically adds the icon to the comments, or removes the impediment and automatically adds the icon to the comments, respectively (see screenshots attached).

This feature, however, is not available on the issue view screen. Inside the issue view screen, it is only possible to mark an issue as impediment by manually checking the 'Flagged' field using the edit issue menu, and this does not automatically add the flag icon and comment to the issue as the board function does.

It would be useful if the same feature present in the boards was available inside the issue view screen, perhaps under the 'More' menu. This would speed up flagging and unflagging of issues, and since it is a feature already present in JIRA, it shouldn't be too difficult to make it available from inside the view screen.

[JSWSERVER-16346] Add the 'Add flag and comment' and 'Remove flag and add comment' to the issue view screen menus

We need this resolved, as well.  We have the ability to flag / flag with comment from the backlog or by right clicking on the Kanban Card, but the only way we can flag an issue from the View or Edit screens is to add the field to the already busy screen.

Flags are useless without an attached comment.

Oh, hey, look. ANOTHER issue Atlassian just wants to ignore.

            Also Voting for this!!!

Definitly agree with Graham Clint! I often find flagged stories without any comment and nobody remembers the reason why it was flaggend

100% agree with the above comment: There should only be the options for "Add flag and comment" and "Remove flag and comment".

This feature provides only less information. Its very difficult to get the flagged date and comments from the over all history of the issue comments. It would be really helpful if these features are implemented as well.

Count me as interested as well.

A directly related function: There should only be the options for "Add flag and comment" and "Remove flag and comment". There is never a case where someone should make a change to the flag without leaving a comment. When that function is available, someone might be tempted to use it, which robs the team of valuable information about why the flag status changed.

Finding out Jira has inherent functionality to flag impediments, made our workflow a lot cleaner. However, we currently encounter new problems because the flag fucntionality is not usable from issue view. This story would solve that issue and make the flag functionality widely usable. Please vote up.
